Welcome to the jungle...

"Welcome to the jungle
It gets worse here everyday
Ya learn ta live like an animal
In the jungle where we play
If you got a hunger for what you see
You'll take it eventually
You can have anything you want
But you better not take it from me"
At least that's how Guns 'n' Roses described it. After a day of some analysing of what everyone wants or expects out of the programme, some HF radio training, and cultural awareness, we went off to a cultural evening of food and traditional tribal dances.
It's our first really early morning tomorrow as the whole group of staff are off to the jungle for training - setting up camp, sleeping in hammocks and under tarps, etc. We'll be back on Saturday!!
I think we have the biggest cockroach in the world in our bathroom tonight as well. I think it's going to eat the wee lizard.
More soon......

I'm getting the impression HARD and rewarding may be a bit of an understatement. You will certainly be kept busy by the sounds of things!
On first thoughts, I'd imagined that having the photographer, PR, camp reporter type role might save you from the more extreme physical challenges but I just know your gonna tell me that you may have one of the toughest roles of all (all the extreme physical challenges AND you need to work when you get back to base camp!). Nae rest for the wicked dude, quality!
In spite of the lack of comments on here, I'm sure I'm not the only one rivetted by 'Radio Darren on location'. Enjoying it mate, as I know you are!
Here's hoping the Borneo mosquitos aren't as half as bad as the Scottish midges! :-o
I can say that the Borneo mossies are definitely more hardy than the Scottish midge. I've got a few belters of bites after the night in the jungle. Anyone would think I've had snake bites on my legs!
